Dear Daisy Dog

My name is Shadow, and for the past week, my right eye has had a discharge. Otherwise, my eyes look normal.

My humans squirt drops in my eyes, but that doesn’t help. So they wipe out the discharge, and I lick it from their fingers.

Should I see my veterinarian?

Daisy Responds

Eyes are so important to quality of life that you should have your veterinarian check yours soon.

If the discharge is yellow, or your eye has become cloudy or red, make the appointment today.

Whether your eye is infected or your cornea is scratched – or you are suffering from allergies, dry eye or glaucoma – it’s important to seek treatment.

My brother Jack has a clear eye discharge that tastes salty, so he licks it off Mom’s finger after she cleans his eyes. In his case, the cause is quite benign. I hope yours is, too.
