Dear Daisy Dog

Christopher Cat recently said that a black light illuminates dried cat urine on carpeting. Does it do the same with dog urine?

Daisy Responds

Yes, dog and cat urine – and, dare I say it, human urine – all fluoresce under a black light.

We received so many letters like yours that I barked at Christopher to include relevant dog information when he answers queries. I see he listened to me this week.

If you smell urine on your carpet, buy a black light and an enzymatic cleaner like Nature’s Miracle or Simple Solutions.
Wherever the black light illuminates even a faded area of fluorescence, saturate it with sufficient cleaner to penetrate the carpet and soak the pad.

The enzymatic cleaner will break down the chemicals in the urine, effectively removing the odor and stain.
