Dear Christopher Cat

My cat scratches and pulls out her hair. Her skin is covered with scabs, but I don’t see any fleas or flea dirt.

I gave her fish oil capsules, but they didn’t stop the itching. Some friends suggest I apply mineral oil or Skin So Soft to her coat, but others tell me cats can get sick when they ingest these products as they groom themselves. What would you suggest?

Christopher Responds

It sounds like it’s time to consult someone other than your friends. May I suggest your veterinarian?

The best way to treat itchy skin is to address the cause.

Many things make our skin itch -– from allergies to mites -– and each is treated differently.

When I’m itchy, I feel miserable, and I want my veterinarian mom to relieve my misery quickly.

If your cat is like me, I suggest you make an appointment with your veterinarian today.

Your cat will thank you.
